We need environmental awareness and action days (like Plastic-Free July) to help motivate and educate the world. World Clean Up Day is another great global initiative.
What is World Clean Up Day?
World Cleanup Day brings together people of the earth for a cleaner planet. It unites volunteers and partners from 191 countries. On this day people try to rid our planet of trash – cleaning up litter and mismanaged waste from beaches, rivers, forests, and streets.
How Did World Clean Up Day Start?
How Do I Participate in World Clean Up Day?
You can check their handy map for events, become an organizer yourself or simply share this blog post with others to get the word out.
As they say:
Please check the cleanup map and find an event close to you. If there a no cleanup events close by, consider organizing one by yourself. You can find instructions on how to by scrolling up this page. Or just crab a pair of gloves and bags and make an individual cleanup.
It is a wonderful event to be sure. Of course, we also need to stop the massive flow of plastic pollution in the first place. We can't continue to clean up forever while we pollute even more.
That is why the plastic-free product shop Gaia Guy was founded. A company that tries to help people find affordable and biodegradable and/or reusable and actually recyclable products. Helping you stop the garbage before the need to clean it all up. Thank you for your support!
